I wondered briefly if the man holding my great-grandmother was her father, my g-g-grandfather, but looking at other photos I have of him, I really don’t think that it is. I asked a great aunt and she didn’t think it was him either and she at least knew him. Maybe you are right and they are siblings of my g-g-grandfather and my great-grandmother just happened to get pulled into the photo.

It still remains a mystery.

If you actually overlay the two photos in Photoshop (this one and the one from my other post) there is almost no difference between the two men. Since you say that the photo of the younger man is likely from the 1920’s, perhaps he is the son of the man in this photo. Unfortunately, that still doesn’t solve much.

Thanks though. I previously had no clue as to when the other photo might have been taken.

I’m going to disagree that the man holding the chicken is the same man in your other photo. The photo above was taken in the 1910s, by the clothing and hair styles we see here. The other photo shows a younger man dressed in clothing typical of the 1920s. Obviously, the man with the chicken would have been older, not younger, in the 1920s. I can see how there is a resemblance. Both men have what appears to be a scar or unusual bone structure on their upper right cheeks. However, a second, closer look of the above photo makes me wonder if there is a blemish on the photo, rather than a scar on the man’s face.

I hope this is helpful in some small way.

I’m really curious about the chicken! This isn’t Col. Sanders is it or a relative of his? I mean if it’s Kentucky – you never know! All kidding aside, would the man & woman be related? If not by marriage perhaps siblings with their children? Could the man with the chicken be some sort of “local attraction” that folks would get their pictures taken with?

Now WHY would he be holding a chicken? Maybe it’s a family pet? Surely they aren’t fixing to fix him for dinner! I like the little chair the boy is sitting in and the hair ribbons.

Great picture. I love the hair ribbons on the seated girl. Thanks for letting us know that was a chicken. That was my guess, but I wasn’t 100% sure.
