Donating to archives
Why, oh why, did my great-grandmother donate papers of hers to an archive!?!
I understand that it was an awesome way to save them for future generations without relying on the family to keep them, and it lets the public have access to it and all, but it sucks when I want to browse the collection but I can only do it Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. til 5 p.m. I mean, I’m related to her. I should have special privileges, right?
Having just complained, I figure that I will donate at least some of my genealogy materials to a library or archive at some point in the future, should they even want them.
